Faith Kivunga, Masters of Science Student in Biotechnology was among students who interned at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), IDeAL (Initiative to Develop African Research Leaders) in Kilifi for 10 months, from September 2018 until August 2019.
Faith is currently researching on the development of a malaria vaccine that will help reduce the number of deaths especially in children under the age of 5 years and expectant women.
Ms. Kivunga described her internship at IDeAL as one that gave her an opportunity to be trained, mentored and exposed in scientific research and research leadership. What inspired her the most was seminars and multi-disciplinary collaborations in scientific research.
