During this year’s (September 2014) international trade fair, the Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (CEBIB) got a platform to share information with stakeholders among them potential students, parents and the general public on its programme and services, and its role in national development.
The CEBIB team had a display at the University stand on a selected research innovation, which is in line with this year's trade fair theme- ‘Enhancing Technology in Agriculture and Industry for Food Security and National Growth.’

The Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology in conjunction with the ICT Authority and industry players convened the independent Multi-stakeholder ICT Innovation forum on 24th-25th February, 2015.
The team that presented the winning concept to redesign offices and classrooms at CEBIB; Joy Muli - B05/53635/2012), School of Arts and Design and Leah Kanda - B66/0912/2012, Department of Real Estate & Construction Management were awarded on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 4.00pm in the office of the Director, CEBIB.
The competition was facilitated through funds from Malaria Capacity Development Consortium (MCDC).
On Monday, March 23, 2015; guest researchers and professors from Nara Institute of Science & Technology (NAIST) , Japan visited CEBIB and SBS to explore avenues for collaboration. Prof. Shigehiko Kanaya, Tetsuo Katsuragi PhD and Nelson Kibinge, PhD, Benard Kulohoma PhD gave briefings during the meeting that was attended by CEBIB/SBS staff and Postgraduate students at SBS Boardroom.

CEBIB’s Postgraduate Research Coordinator, Mr. Abraham Pkiror Parwos, represented the Centre’s Career Development Group (CDG) in the Vitae Researcher Development International Conference 2015 which was held on 8th and 9th September, 2015 at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, UK.
The conference brought together all those with a strategic plan and practical role in developing researchers and followed on from the Career Development Group (CDG) meetings organised by the Malaria Capacity Development Consortium.
The conference addressed the strategic and practical implications of the following themes:
Policy development relating to doctoral education and employing researchers
Building institutional capacity for researchers’ professional development to maintain research excellence.
Demonstrating the value of researcher development on research outputs, researcher careers, economic prosperity and society.
Sustainable practice to support researcher skills, professional and career development.
All costs for attendance were sponsored through funds from MCDC.

CEBIB STAFF
Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics took part in this year’s University of Nairobi Open Day that took place at the Hyslop car park, Main Campus from 25th to 27th of May 2017.
The centre was represented by Mr. Collins Owino - Graduate Assistant, who show cased the active research activities at the centre. In line with the theme: Quality and Innovative Education to Sustain Industrial Growth, CEBIB exhibited two current research projects to the audience; one project looking at the production of hemostatic products from natural products and another project on malaria.
