Five CEBIB students, Ms. Josephine Kimani (PhD), Mr. Fred Odhiambo (MSc), Mr. Wellington Odhiambo (MSc), Ms. Tania Bishola (MSc) and Ms. Lillian Mbaisi (MSc) participated in the Introduction to Bioinformatics Course (IBT 2017) held at the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE). The annual course was organized by H3ABioNet, the Pan African Bioinformatics Network for H3Africa, across 27 sites in 12 African countries. The training will continue for period of 3 months with intensive biweekly contact sessions.

Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics took part in this year’s University of Nairobi Open Day that took place at the Hyslop car park, Main Campus from 25th to 27th of May 2017.

The centre was represented by Mr. Collins Owino - Graduate Assistant, who show cased the active research activities at the centre. In line with the theme: Quality and Innovative Education to Sustain Industrial Growth, CEBIB exhibited two current research projects to the audience; one project looking at the production of hemostatic products from natural products and another project on malaria.

Two CEBIB technical staff, Ms. Anne Owiti and Mr. Enock Omare participated in a 1-day workshop on Cell Manipulation; Applications, Challenges and Solutions for Biological Researchers. The event was facilitated by Ko Kwan Mor, Application Manager – Eppendorf Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd in collaboration with Jitesh Shah, CEO – F&S Scientific Ltd (Kenya) was hosted at Southern Sun Mayfair (Nairobi) on Friday, May 26, 2017.
