CEBIB Hosted a Public Lecture on BioinformaticsThe Centre for Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (CEBIB) on the 29th May, 2013 Bioinformatics. The lecture was organized through the Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) and the

International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in collaboration with University of Nairobi’s; CEBIB, Biochemistry Department & the School of Biological Sciences.

The public lecture, titled: “A general overview of what the field of bioinformatics is all about. Why Bioinformatics will soon change your future”was delivered by, Prof Erik Bongcam-Rudloff, a renowned Academic and Reearcher from Uppsala University & Swedish University. of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden. Prof Rudloff is the Chair of SeqAhead, a Biomedical European COST Action: "Next Generation Sequencing Data Analysis Network" and Coordinator of ALLBIO, a FP7 project. He is also the founder of the creators of eBiotools, eBioKit, eBioX and eBioKit.His main research deals with development of bioinformatics solutions for the Life Sciencescommunity.The lecture was quite stimulating and

informative and was well attended by members of staff from the University of airobi, ILRI, BecA as well students from different departments from the University of Nairobi.
