CEBIB MSc student presents his research findings at two scientific forums in West Africa.

Mr. Kelvin Muteru, MSc. Bioinformatics student, attended and presented his research at two scientific meetings held in Dakar, Senegal on 12th to 18th May, 2016. Kelvin presented the findings of his MSc thesis that involved characterization of polydnaviruses in the tsetse fly genome with the aim of identifying possible novel tsetse fly control avenues.

In the first forum Mr. Muteru presented a poster at the 8th Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa) Consortium Meeting held at the Radisson Blue hotel. Subsequently, on 14th May, 2016 he presented an oral presentation at the Young Researchers Forum during the 9th Meeting of the African Society of Human Genetics (AfSHG) held at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop. Both meetings were aimed at strengthening genetics research in Africa. Mr. Muteru travels and accomodation expenses were sponsored by the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in collaboration with the Wellcome Trust.
